Factors that influence in selection of direction for university studies Case study: University “Haxhi Zeka” - Peja

Abstract

 
Everyday tourism is spreading with great importance in Kosovo especially during last years, not only as a major possibility for employment but also as a possibility to build an image of a newest state in Europe which corresponds with many specific characteristics and available unique values. Therefore the importance of tourism, review and analysing of all factors that lead to its development and in more rational use of natural, human and financial resources respecting cultural values as well as the spirit and country traditions where tourism is developed should become priority for whole society in general. Development and its quality are not possible without human resource. Main factors of success in tourism are human resources which through high education attain perfection and get qualified in industry of tourism and hospitality. In conditions of new economy,
the economy based in knowledge, the human capital within compassion in population of Kosovo is the most important asset of the country. This study has to do with education of staff in the field of tourism and hospitality as well as factors that influence in selection of direction for university studies and how much are students content with this direction in general aspect. This cooperation between high education (faculty) and employment market is important especially in the process of standard development and new learning
projects, in guaranteeing of needed conditions for practical training, in practice
qualifying of staff, in determining of necessary specialists for employment market. The study is based at the empiric data extracted through questionaries’ in which were  surveyed students of University “Haxhi Zeka”- in Peja, respectively Faculty:Managing, Tourism, hospitality and Environment. The aim of this study is to provide empiric proves regarding factors that influence in selection of direction for university studies and how much are students content with this direction in general aspect. Data are collected in surveying 102 students using questionaries’ with closed questions and on Likerts scale.
